THE NEXT STEPS

An Amazing Journey is about to Begin!

JUMP IN AND GET INVOLVED!

RECEIVING JESUS CHRIST

When you are ready, you can receive Jesus by sincerely praying to God our Maker. You can bow your head or even drop to your knees and sincerely talk to God about 3 things in order to receive Jesus Christ as your Forgiver and Leader.

1. Admit to Him your sin/brokenness problem – admit your need for Him.
Sometimes it will be more meaningful if you can get specific, if you would like, by
confessing ways you’ve operated that are against God.

2. Believe – confess what you have been believing in to “save” you (good works,
religion, nothing, your self, etc.), and then confess your belief that Jesus is your only
true rescue because of His death, burial, and resurrection on your behalf.

3. Cry out to God to save you – tell Him you are placing your faith in the
forgiveness and leadership of Jesus Christ, His Son.

BAPTISM

Baptism is an openly public acknowledgment of one’s faith in Jesus Christ. As we recognize our sin and our need for newness, the Bible calls us to radically turn from sin to Jesus for life transformation.

Inwardly, that happens by rejecting rebellion and trusting Christ. Outwardly, it is symbolized by baptism.

WHY GET BAPTIZED?

  • Jesus was baptized.
  • Jesus commissions His followers to baptize others.
  • It’s the pattern of the New Testament church.
  • Jesus desires we acknowledge Him to others.
  • It’s a natural step in one’s spiritual journey.

WHO SHOULD GET BAPTIZED?

Anyone who has placed their trust in Jesus Christ to forgive them of sin and become their Leader in life, should get baptized. Baptism should follow a person’s decision to trust Christ.

HOW SHOULD WE BE BAPTIZED?

The picture of going into the water and coming up beautifully depicts the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We should be baptized by immersion into the water in order to best reflect the work of Jesus. That is also what the word baptize means; to dip or immerse.

SERVE OTHERS

Serving is one of the most enjoyable opportunities you’ll have at Genesis Church. It allows you the chance to get involved in loving on others and helping our church thrive. Some people find places to serve in ways that align with their gifts. Others simply respond to a need that they see (taking out the trash isn’t a spiritual gift, but someone needs to do it). Either way, every position is important for our church body to be complete.

Serving is a great way to meet new friends by getting involved in one of our many serving opportunities. CONTACT US to learn how you can help Genesis Church.
